Where in the world are we?
Halong Bay is a unique place. Studded with some 1600 limestone islands that rise up out of the usually calm waters, Halong Bay offers a great experience.
There is a wide variety of cruising options from the utmost luxury of vessels that offer private balconies, cocktails at 5pm, onboard fitness centres and spas, to the more standard “junk” type vessels that will still enable you to see the wonders of Halong Bay.
Our trip was on a mid range junk with comfortable cabins and fantastic food (but no spa or the cocktails!).
Many of the Halong Bay cruising experience offer off-boat trips to some of the larger inhabited islands, and a trip to the famous Sung Sot Cave, also known as “Surprise Cave”, is one of the popular inclusions. Maybe you would like to kayak through the narrow tunnel of Luon Cave and paddle around the enclosed lake (and spot some of the resident monkeys}. Or maybe just sit back on deck and enjoy the passing scenery and dining experience which aboard our boat was simply exceptional.
Our cruise through Halong Bay was one of the highlights of our visit to Vietnam.
